MEDICAL STUDENTS RALLY FOR CODEBLUEBLOG

The Student Body

Images In the last two days there has been a huge wave of support for CodeBlueBlog in the 2004 Weblog awards, driven by medical students and premedical/preprofessional students. Their voting has driven this blog to second place in the running -- and closing on the leader!

Apparently, a lot of the medical students and premedical/preprofessional students inhabit the Student Doctor Network (SDN) where they picked up on CodeBlueBlog, and they have been coming out to support it.

I want to thank everyone from SDN who has visited my site and taken the time to vote. I'm deeply pleased, because you are one of the main groups of people I'd most like to reach. I was thinking about ways to show my gratitude, and I had several different ideas.  Let me know which you think would be most helpful/fun:

1. Weekly advice column (you send me your questions about health care/being a physician, etc. and I answer them every week in a special column)

2. Case of the week (radiology cases; could be contest format; follow-up with teaching points)

3. A weekly medical puzzle . The idea would be, most times, to contain a small teaching point.

4. A weekly student blog column where you get to be a guest blogger on my site to talk about whatever you want

If the SDNers  are reading this, click on comments below and let me know what you think. Will it fly?

120wde_2004weblogawardsbutton_02_1 In any event, thank you, and keep voting! The contest ends December 12th and everyone can vote here once a day.

Congratulations on your finding a nest egg of voters to improve your standing. You deserve it. That said, I'm in last place in the 250-500 category and in bad need of a vote infusion. Since you're a compassionate physician, maybe you could prescribe a therapeutic endorsement for Interested-Participant. A mere few handfuls of votes would take me out of the cellar.

Just keep doing what you do. It's too interesting to change.
By the way, Most of the doctors in my clinic are intrigued by the Yushcenko mystery and I referred some to your case. We are all convinced hes an alcaholic but we're still not quite sold on the rosacea.
Though, like you, we're quite convinced that poisoning is a myth.

Hey Mr. Boyle - don't forget your family! Read your email, you'll find out what I'm talking about. Give us the recognition we deserve, too! We've done a lot for you even in your absence.

Hmm, I love your blog as-is, but if you were going to add one of those things, I would definitely go for #2.

(p.s. i had not heard of the SDN until now.. off to check it out, as it sounds promising :)

Am not a medical student, but a perpetual student always trying to increase my knowledge.
Would love to see radiology case of the week with clinical hx or weekly medical puzzle. I enjoy the ones that NEJM posts - but their's are infrequent.

Congrats on winning; first time here.
Why not "test" each option, once a week, for two or three months, and let folks rate (scale 1 to 5?) how well they liked that option.

Or you can rate it yourself based on comments.

I liked/like Joe's blog, but my wife is a doctor. She might like this one.

I haven't been up to much lately. So it goes. What can I say? I've just been letting everything wash over me recently, not that it matters. I just don't have much to say these days.

I haven't been up to anything. My mind is like an empty room, but such is life. Maybe tomorrow. Today was a loss, but eh.

Nobody is a stranger to the word http://www.viagracare.com viagra. Even the children have heard of it, though they may be unaware of its meaning. Keeping in pace of its increasing demand which resulted from its phenomenal success in treating ED, even the online pharmacies started dealing in Viagra. One can now easily http://www.viagracare.com buy viagra or http://www.viagracare.com order viagra online. Ever since the day of introduction of http://www.viagracare.com viagra online, it has been like a blessing to both the online pharmacies and the customers. The online pharmacies are reaping huge profits and the people are getting the worlds most sought after drug at their doorsteps that too at a cost relaxation.

Not much on my mind right now. I haven't been up to anything. Today was a complete loss. That's how it is. Not much exciting going on these days.

My life's been completely unremarkable recently. I haven't been up to anything. I just don't have much to say. I've just been letting everything pass me by. Shrug. I don't care.
