And we still don't know the mechanism of her death.
Today, A Chance To Cut Is A Chance to Cure posts an emergency case his partner faced in the ER one night. A young, pregnant woman was SHOT in the SKULL and the BULLET pierced her LEFT TEMPORAL BONE, tracked across the base of her SKULL, caused damage to her right CAROTID ARTERY causing it to BLEED directly into a nearby VEIN thus necessitating emergency OBLITERATION of the right carotid, one of two MAJOR arteries that supply blood to the brain. After emergency surgery, the girl was discharged and is "doing well."
It is remarkable that a high-speed metallic projectile can enter the brain, fracture several bones, injure a critical vascular structure and NOT kill this girl; yet, Victoria Snelgrove, the Boston Red Sox fan who was fatally injured during a melee following the ALCS game -- is said to have died after being hit EXTERNALLY on the eyeball with a PAINTBALL that was filled with pepper spray, and designed to explode on impact...and no one questions the mechanism of death.
The fact that this does not arouse anyone's curiosity confounds me, especially since this girl may have died from some other cause, which would alter all the ramifications of the current theory and explanation that the death was a direct cause of overzealous police and an unsafe crowd-control weapon. My previous posts have detailed the highly unlikely -- almost unprecidented -- chance that this injury would cause death. But does it matter?
What if she died from a misadministration of care in the ER?
Don't we need to know the mechanism of death in this case?
